About Othman Haddad
Sound therapist and founder of Swiss Sound Therapy

I have worked professionally with sound since 2012, supporting individuals and groups in Geneva and London and training practitioners through Swiss Sound Therapy.

My approach has developed through years of practical experience with sound, vibration, rhythm, voice and listening. Rather than applying the same sequence or technique to everyone, I pay close attention to how each person responds and adapt the session accordingly.

I see my role as a facilitator rather than the person who “heals” you. I create a structured and attentive space in which your system has the opportunity to settle, and where you can notice more clearly what is happening in your body and mind.

This principle sits at the heart of Swiss Sound Therapy:

When the system settles, deeper listening becomes possible.

What happens in a one-to-one sound therapy session?

There is no fixed sequence. Each session begins with how you are feeling that day and is adapted as we go.

1. We start by listening

We begin with a short conversation about how you are feeling physically and mentally, and what you would like support with.
You do not need to arrive knowing exactly what is “wrong” or what you need.

2. The session is shaped around you

You will usually lie down comfortably while I work with a combination of sound, vibration, rhythm, voice, breath and silence. Instruments such as singing bowls, gong or drum may be used when appropriate,
with the intensity and pacing adjusted according to your response.

3. We allow time to integrate

At the end, there is time to notice what has changed and, if useful, to discuss the experience.
I may also suggest a simple breathing, humming, listening or rhythm practice to use between sessions.

You do not need to meditate, concentrate or make anything happen. Your role is simply to experience the session.

A human, grounded and personalised approach

Sound therapy is not about applying a predetermined frequency, instrument or sequence and expecting the same response from everyone.

During a one-to-one session, I pay attention to how you respond to different forms of sound, vibration, rhythm, voice, breath and silence. We can then adjust the pace, intensity and approach as the session develops.

The aim is not to diagnose you or to “unlock” something hidden, but to create conditions in which you can slow down, notice what is happening more clearly and experience what helps you settle.

Dialogue is part of the process. Your feedback, physical sensations and lived experience are more important than any theory about what a particular sound is supposed to do.

What may be used during the session?

Singing bowls

Sustained tones and vibration, used at different intensities and distances depending on what feels appropriate.

Gong

A broader and more complex sound spectrum, introduced progressively and adjusted according to your response.

Drum / rhythm

Simple rhythmic patterns that can bring attention back towards physical sensation, movement and pulse.

Voice and breath

Humming, toning, vocal sound or breathing practices that you can experience during the session and, when useful, continue using yourself afterwards.

BioTuning® within an ongoing process

BioTuning® is one of the approaches I may use when working with someone over several sessions.

It combines voice analysis as an orientation tool with targeted sound work and observation over time. The analysis does not diagnose a condition or determine what you “need”; it provides additional information that can help guide and adapt the work alongside dialogue and your lived experience.

Because the value of BioTuning lies in observing and adapting across sessions, it is offered only as part of a 3- or 5-session process, rather than as a stand-alone first session.

If you are new to Swiss Sound Therapy, you can simply begin with a single session. There is no need to decide in advance whether BioTuning is appropriate for you.

Frequently asked questions

There is no predetermined number. If you are new to Swiss Sound Therapy, I recommend beginning with one session and seeing how you respond.

Some people come for an occasional individual session; others choose to work over several sessions when continuity feels useful. There is no obligation to book a package.

No. You do not need to concentrate, visualise, meditate or achieve a particular state.

You will usually lie down comfortably and simply experience what is happening. I guide the session and adapt the work as we go.

That is completely fine. You do not need to arrive already calm.

The session does not depend on your ability to “switch off”. We work with the state you are actually in rather than trying to force relaxation.

You are welcome to tell me about sounds you particularly enjoy, dislike or feel sensitive to.

The instruments, intensity and pacing are then adapted according to your preferences and how you respond during the session.

Not exactly.

A sound bath generally follows a sequence designed for a group. A one-to-one sound therapy session is more individualised: we begin with a conversation and adapt the sounds, rhythm, vibration, breath and silence throughout the session according to you.

BioTuning® is designed to be used within an ongoing process rather than as a stand-alone treatment.

If it appears relevant after your first session, we can discuss whether including it in further sessions would be useful.

No. Swiss Sound Therapy is a complementary wellbeing practice and is not a substitute for medical, psychiatric or psychological assessment or treatment.

If you have a medical condition, are receiving treatment, are pregnant, have recently had surgery, are particularly sensitive to sound, or are unsure whether a session is appropriate for you, please contact me before booking and seek advice from an appropriate healthcare professional where necessary.
