Private Sound Therapy & Sound Bath Training in Geneva and London

Bespoke one-to-one professional training, built around you

Bespoke private sound healing and sound therapy training Formation privée en sonothérapie sur mesure

If you want to learn sound therapy but a fixed course does not quite fit what you need, private training gives you another option.

Swiss Sound Therapy offers personalised sound therapy and sound bath training in Geneva, Switzerland and London, UK, designed around your experience, objectives and professional direction.

  • You may be completely new to sound.
  • You may already facilitate sound baths.
  • You may be a therapist, yoga teacher, coach, bodyworker or other practitioner who wants to introduce sound into an existing practice.
  • Or you may already have completed sound healing or sound therapy training and feel that you need greater structure, technical understanding or confidence.

Instead of asking you to fit into a predetermined programme, we first establish:

  • where you are now
  • what you already know
  • what you want to be able to do
  • where the gaps are
  • and what training would genuinely be useful

Your private training is then built around those priorities.

Private training available throughout the year in Geneva and London, subject to availability.

What a gift on so many levels to spend 5 days with Otto! My 5 day private curated journey was deeply moving , tangibly experienced and genuinely intelligently shared. Otto brings great intuitive wisdom and scientifically based knowledge to the table......Or should I say to the sound bowls :). I feel I leveled up my understanding of the transformative power of sound in ways that will be used for myself and shared with others for a very long time! Othman Haddad teaches in a beautifully integrated structure combining sensitivity, intelligence, vast experience and fortunately fine humour! I highly recommend his system of sound healing and I am so grateful for my experience. Thank you Otto!!!

Who is private
sound therapy training for?

Private training can be suitable if you are:

  • a complete beginner interested in learning sound therapy
  • considering a new professional direction
  • a yoga or meditation teacher
  • a therapist or counsellor
  • a coach
  • a massage therapist or bodyworker
  • a wellbeing practitioner
  • a musician wanting to explore sound in a therapeutic context
  • already facilitating sound baths
  • already trained in sound healing or sound therapy
  • looking for individual supervision or advanced professional development

No formal musical background is required.

What matters more is your willingness to listen, practise, observe and understand.

Private training for beginners

Starting privately can be particularly useful if you are new to sound therapy.

There is no pressure to keep pace with a group and no assumption that you already understand musical terminology or particular instruments.

We can begin with the fundamentals and progressively build your understanding. You can ask questions as they arise, repeat techniques when necessary and spend more time on the areas that are most relevant to you.

The objective is not to learn everything as quickly as possible. It is to establish strong foundations.

Advanced private training for sound practitioners

Private training is equally suitable for people who already have experience.

  • Perhaps you have completed another sound healing course but still do not feel confident creating your own sessions.
  • Perhaps you know your instruments well but want to understand facilitation more deeply.
  • Perhaps your sound baths have started to feel repetitive.
  • Or perhaps you have encountered situations with clients or groups that your original training did not prepare you for.

In that case, we do not need to start again. We identify what is already strong and concentrate on what needs development.

This can make private training particularly effective as a form of sound therapy mentoring, supervision or continuing professional development.

Learn how to work with sound - not simply how to play instruments

Knowing how to make a singing bowl resonate or produce a powerful sound from a gong is useful. But professional sound work requires more than instrumental technique.

You need to understand why you are using something, what you are listening for, when to change direction and how the person or group in front of you is responding.

At Swiss Sound Therapy, we do not teach that a particular instrument, note or frequency always produces one predetermined effect.

The same gong, bowl, rhythm or voice technique may be used very differently depending on:

  • the person
  • the context
  • the intention
  • the level of activation or regulation
  • the stage of the session
  • and what you observe as the work develops

The aim of private training is therefore not to give you a sequence to reproduce. It is to help you develop the understanding and practical judgement to build your own work.

A different approach to sound therapy training

The SST methodology begins with three priorities:

Person first. Purpose second. Method third.

Before choosing an instrument or technique, we ask:

What is happening?

Then:

What are we trying to support?

Only then:

Which method might be appropriate?

This can change the way you approach an entire sound therapy session or sound bath.

Instead of thinking: “Now I play the bowls, then the gong, then the drum”, you begin to think in terms of function:

  • Does this person or group need settling or activation?
  • Is attention stable or scattered?
  • Is the sound becoming overstimulating?
  • Would rhythm help?
  • Would space or silence be more useful?
  • Should intensity increase, decrease or remain stable?
  • What has changed since the beginning of the session?

You learn to observe, choose, test and adapt rather than mechanically follow a protocol.

What can your private sound therapy training include?

Because the programme is bespoke, there is no compulsory list of subjects that every participant has to cover.

Depending on your objectives and previous experience, training can include areas such as:

Sound bath facilitation

Learn how to structure and guide a professional sound bath from beginning to end.

This can include:

- session architecture
- openings and transitions
- progression of intensity
- pacing and tempo
- use of silence
- instrument combinations
- spatial awareness
- endings and integration
- working with different group states
- adapting rather than following a fixed sequence

Singing bowls: Himalayan and crystal bowls

Develop practical, controlled and responsive techniques with both Himalayan/Tibetan singing bowls and crystal singing bowls.

Depending on your level, we can explore:

- different ways of playing and controlling resonance
- appropriate mallet selection
- volume, dynamics and intensity
- combining bowls and working with musical relationships
- integrating bowls into individual sessions and sound baths
-recognising when less sound, more space or a different approach may be more appropriate

The emphasis is not simply on producing a beautiful sound, but on understanding how and why you use it within a session.

Drum and rhythm

Explore how pulse, tempo and repetition can influence the direction and energy of a session.

Training may include practical frame-drum technique, rhythmic awareness and ways of integrating rhythm into both group and individual work.

Gong

Learn to work with the gong with greater control, sensitivity and intention.

Training can explore playing technique, mallet choice, dynamics, rhythm, texture, progression of intensity and the use of space and silence.

The focus is on developing the ability to shape the sound according to the needs of the session rather than simply producing maximum intensity.

Voice, humming and toning

Develop confidence using the voice as a flexible therapeutic sound tool.

We can explore humming, toning, breath, resonance and ways of combining the voice with instruments without requiring formal singing ability.

Musical relationships and intervals

You do not need to be a musician, but understanding how sounds relate to one another can significantly improve the way you listen and combine instruments.

Private training can introduce the most useful musical intervals, consonance, dissonance, tension and resolution in a practical and accessible way.

One-to-one sound therapy

Private training can also focus on working individually rather than facilitating groups.

This can include:

- assessing the starting point
- clarifying intention
- selecting appropriate methods
- observation during the session
- adapting in real time
- use of sound, voice, rhythm and silence
- professional boundaries
- integration after the session

Developing your own sound practice

For experienced practitioners, the training can become a form of professional development.

We can examine:

- how you currently work
- where your practice has become repetitive
- what you are uncertain about
- how you make decisions during a session
- your instrument technique
- your sound bath structure
- your facilitation style
- difficult cases or situations
- and how to develop a practice that feels genuinely your own

About Othman Haddad
and Swiss Sound Therapy

Othman Haddad is the founder and Methodology Director of Swiss Sound Therapy.

After an earlier professional career in systems engineering, software testing and programme management, he moved into full-time therapeutic work and has been working professionally with sound since 2012.

He has worked with individuals, groups, organisations and practitioners in Switzerland, the United Kingdom and internationally, and has trained sound therapy practitioners since 2017.

His earlier background in analysing complex systems strongly influenced the SST methodology:

understand what is happening → establish the priority → choose an appropriate method → observe the response → adapt.

This is why SST training does not begin with the assumption that a specific instrument or frequency always creates a predetermined outcome.

Students learn to listen, question, observe and make informed choices.

Frequently Asked Questions

“Sound healing” is a widely used term and many people find Swiss Sound Therapy while searching for sound healing training.

We prefer the term sound therapy because our approach emphasises structured facilitation, observation and responsible use of sound rather than claims that an instrument or frequency inherently “heals” a person.

If you are searching for sound healing training but want a grounded, practical and non-dogmatic approach, this training may therefore be suitable for you.

Yes.

Private training can start from the fundamentals and does not require previous sound therapy experience or formal musical training.

Yes.

Your programme can focus specifically on sound bath training and facilitation, including session structure, instrument technique, pacing, transitions, dynamics, group awareness and adapting a sound bath according to what you observe.

Yes.

In this case, training can concentrate on your existing practice rather than starting from beginner material.

You can work on technique, session architecture, musical relationships, facilitation, difficult situations, instrument use or any areas in which you want greater depth.

Not necessarily.

Professional instruments are available during training, allowing you to experience and compare different options before deciding what you may eventually need for your own practice.

No.

The private bespoke programme and the structured ASCA training pathway are different formats.

If your primary objective is an ASCA-recognised professional training pathway in Switzerland, please see the dedicated ASCA Sound Therapy Training in Geneva page.

There is no single duration.

Some people need a focused intensive covering specific professional skills, while others benefit from a broader multi-day programme.

We establish the appropriate format after discussing your previous experience and objectives.

Yes.

The Geneva training is open to participants from elsewhere in Switzerland and internationally.

Send us a short description of:

  • your current experience
  • what you would like to learn
  • whether you prefer Geneva or London
  • and any dates or timeframe you have in mind

We will then arrange an initial conversation and determine whether private training is the right format for you.

Build the training you actually need

You do not need to repeat material you already know.

And you do not need to learn somebody else’s sound bath sequence by heart.

Private training gives us the space to identify what you need to understand, practise and develop next.

Whether you are beginning with sound therapy or refining an established professional practice, the objective remains the same:

to help you become more skilled, more observant and more independent in the way you work with sound.

Available in Geneva, Switzerland and London, UK.
